Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information PopScale collects when you visit popscales.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to a minimum and never sell your personal information.
1. Who we are
PopScale is a US-based marketing agency for local businesses. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at hello@popscales.com or (818) 429-3464.
2. Information we collect
We only collect what we need to run the site and respond to enquiries:
- Contact details you submit — your name, email, optional business name, and message when you use our contact form.
- Preferences stored on your device — your chosen language and your cookie choice.
- Technical & usage data — with your consent, analytics and advertising data such as pages viewed, general location (country / region), and, via Google signals, approximate demographics and interests.
3. Cookies & local storage
Our site does not use advertising cookies by default. We use your browser's local storage for two essential things, and analytics only if you agree:
- Essential — remembers your language and that you have seen this notice. Always active and required for the site to work.
- Analytics & advertising (optional) — loads only after you click “Accept”. We use Google Analytics with Google signals to understand traffic, audience demographics, and cross-device activity, and to improve the site.
- You can change your choice at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer.
4. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Reply to your enquiry and provide the services you ask about.
- Remember your preferences so the site works the way you left it.
- Measure and improve site performance (only with your consent).
5. Analytics & your consent
We use Google Analytics 4, and it runs only after you accept cookies. With your consent we also enable Google signals, which uses Google’s advertising cookies to provide audience demographics, interests, and cross-device measurement. IP addresses are anonymized where supported. You can withdraw consent anytime via “Cookie settings”; declining, or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, keeps analytics and advertising switched off.
6. Sharing your information
We do not sell your data. We share it with trusted service providers that help us operate — such as our hosting and email-delivery providers. With your consent, we also share limited online activity with Google for analytics and advertising measurement (Google signals). We share only to the extent needed, and may disclose information if required by law.
7. Your choices & rights
You can decline analytics, change your cookie choice at any time, and request that we access, correct, or delete the contact details you have sent us. To make a request, email hello@popscales.com.
8. Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA, gives you specific rights over your personal information. This section describes those rights and how we handle your data.
Categories of personal information we have collected in the past 12 months (using CCPA categories):
- Identifiers — such as your name, email address, and phone number that you choose to provide.
- Internet or electronic activity — such as pages viewed, collected only through analytics and only with your consent.
- Geolocation data — approximate, region-level location derived from analytics (with your consent).
We do NOT sell your personal information for money. With your consent, we do “share” limited identifiers and online activity for cross-context behavioral advertising (as defined by the CCPA/CPRA) when Google signals is enabled through Google Analytics. This sharing happens only after you click “Accept”, and you can opt out at any time by declining cookies, using “Cookie settings”, or sending a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of minors under 16.
Subject to verification, California residents have the right to:
- Know & access — the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources, and the purposes.
- Delete — personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Correct — inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
- Opt out — of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell; we share for advertising only with your consent, which you can withdraw anytime via “Cookie settings” or a GPC signal.
- Limit — the use of sensitive personal information (note: we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics).
- Non-discrimination — we will not deny service, charge different prices, or provide a different quality of service because you exercised your rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@popscales.com with the subject “California Privacy Request.” We will verify your identity using the contact details we already hold and respond within 45 days (extendable by up to 45 more days where permitted). You may also use an authorized agent, with proof of authorization, to submit a request on your behalf.
We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals. If your browser or a browser extension sends a GPC signal, we automatically treat it as an opt-out of sale/sharing and keep analytics and advertising switched off — no further action is needed.
Under California’s “Shine the Light” law (Civil Code §1798.83), we do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes.
9. Data retention & security
We keep contact-form submissions only as long as needed to respond and maintain our records, then delete them. We take reasonable measures to protect your information, though no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
